BOSTON, July 9, 2025 – What if your smart lawn mower could do more than just mow? Starting July 9th, 2025, Segway Navimow is unlocking a new era of outdoor automation by opening API access to the expansion bay on its award-winning X3 Series robotic lawn mowers—empowering developers and tech-savvy users to create their own add-on features and custom functions.

Launched in early 2025, the Segway Navimow X3 Series was built for homeowners who demand both intelligent automation and advanced customization in lawn care. Featuring wire-free installation powered by RTK, Vision and VIO technology, adaptive obstacle avoidance, and maximized mowing efficiency, the X3 Series sets a new benchmark for convenience and precision. Designed with a forward-looking expansion bay, the X3 was always meant to evolve—and now, that evolution is in your hands.

“At Segway Navimow, we’re a user-driven company. We believe our customers should decide what possibilities lie behind a smart lawn mower,” said George Ren, CEO of Segway Navimow. “By opening API access, we’re handing over the creative reins to our community.”

This new initiative aims to spark a wave of DIY lawn tech innovation. To fuel inspiration, Segway Navimow has shared a few playful ideas for what developers could build—like a mosquito zapper attachment to ward off pesky bugs, a ball launcher to entertain dogs on the lawn, or even a bubble machine to liven up your next backyard party. And this is just the beginning.

How It Works

Interested users can apply for developer access through the Navimow App. Once approved and having accepted the developer agreement, users will receive the necessary API documentation to integrate new functions via the X3’s dedicated expansion bay.The X3 Series was built with this modular future in mind, offering both the hardware port and the intelligence required for third-party expansion. This move reinforces Segway Navimow’s commitment to delivering a truly customizable smart outdoor experience, whether for families, creators, or backyard tech enthusiasts.

Unleash the Possibilities

With full API access now available, Segway Navimow invites its community to think outside the mower. The company plans to highlight the most inventive add-ons developed by users later this year—so whether you’re coding a garden light show or inventing a way to play fetch with your robot mower, now’s your time to build. To learn more and apply for access, visit the Navimow App or head to Segway Navimow US - OpenAPI
